Can I train my puppy to pee and poop in his puppy pads while in her playpen puppy?

You do not want to train a dog to go against the natural instinct to keep it in a clean room. Dogs do not want to pee and poop in which to eat and play. i recently ordered pit bulls for dummies, and suddenly acquire a copy dog training for dummies. the lady that lives downstairs from me, gave me a book called "smarter than you think and tells him to throw things at her teach dog to come and stay a game at its head to stern, not dog food trust companies, and all these strange things, not sure of that book. other suggestions? or advice?
