Yngwie uses ionian major there, though, and then kinda messes it up at the end.
Listing frets, it would go something like this (tuned down a half): 20 - 19 - 17 - 15 (1 group) (19 - 17 - 15 - 14) - (17 - 15 - 14 - 12) - (15 - 14 - 12 - 10)... etc.

By: letebaguere. on 28 Feb 10, 20:24:27 great lesson but........... that's not travis picking; it's hybrid picking. travis picking is when you are playing simultaneously the bass (with thumb) and the melody+harmony (with fingers), so that you are actually playing two distinct parts at the same time. your usage of your signature finger is part of the rhythm of the song, which means what you are doing is technically hybrid picking. check wikipedia under travis picking if you doubt me. much love,

Here's a lesson for you: Do not try to play according to what you think is cool or try to achieve something that is beyond your physical means. You may have the motivation and interest in trying to develop the speed demonstrated here but that doesn't mean you will necessarily ever attain it. Even Steve Vai and Satriani admit there are people who can play faster than them, do they care? No. Focus on your own style and play to your strengths, it will be much more fulfilling in the end.
