My dog is a dog nearby closed yard, a leash … My BF is a farmer who has about 900 acres … I spend the night there once or twice a week and, of course, I bring my dog with me .. My BF got his most recent dog from a lady who keeps the poor dog in a garage for 2 years … One night, shortly after reaching it, I spent the night there and ended a goat out of the pen and the dogs dead … I bet my dog had something to do with it but I can not be true … absultely I was devistated .. He loves to chase things and in the heat of the "herd mentality" I'm pretty sure he was in it .. I do not worry about it running while he is there because he suffers a bit of separation anxiety, and I did not want to go too far from me, but my concern is another .. That is set to run free, but I feel very happy for him .. The absolute worst thing in the world you can do to put a dog on a chain … Please do not even entertain that thought … I feel that your dog will be well in the country … Zillions of dogs are in the country and stay .. Give it a try … And please just do not worry so much .. I would add … your dog microchipped, if you have not already … That will help ease your mind that if you do not go far, eventually you will find … And make sure that always takes the collar and tags with numbers and your veterinarian contactphone … This will also put more at ease and make it safer ..
